Anti Aging Wellness
Your Wellness = Anti-Aging
Improving one’s health is a passion that all of us should embrace. We all want to live long and active lives, but we are continually bombarded with a multitude of stresses that wear us down. Fortunately, there are actions that all of us can take to help us become healthier; whether called “Anti-aging” or “Wellness,” they are simply preventive health care actions that all of us can easily do.
The problem with medical care
Ninety percent of all health-care dollars are spent on medical care when we get sick. Half of the U.S. health-care budget is spent on the degenerative diseases of aging (Health Care & Finance Administration, 1996). Americans are currently spending $700 billion per year being treated for one or another degenerative disease at a health-care cost of more than $700 billion per year. If we really want to make an impact on health care in this country, we must focus on the degenerative diseases of aging. If we can slow the aging process, we may be able to eliminate more than 50 percent of all diseases overnight.
What are degenerative diseases of aging?
Our bodies can become stressed when we acquire medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer and many other medical illnesses. These are some of the “degenerative diseases” that can make us grow old fast. They weaken us, give us poor quality of life, and decrease our lifespan. Thus, they “age” our bodies. Anti-aging concepts and options attempt to help prevent or reverse these degenerative diseases to potentially help us to not only live longer but also live with a better quality of life.
Antioxidants and anti aging
Antioxidants are nutrients that help prevent the formation compounds in your body that have been associated with the aging process. These compounds are called “free radicals” and are destructive to normal tissues. If you ingest enough antioxidants, you can arm your body with a powerful method to reduce the formation of these aging compounds.
Many nutritional products contain anti-oxidants and new ones come out in the market every day. Some examples are high doses of certain vitamins, such as Vitamin B, C, D and E. Many natural herbal products also have high antioxidant properties, such as Green Tea, Gogi and Açaí. Resveritrol from grapes contain these in high doses, as does wine itself. There are many others that give similar actions. The key is to ingest enough of these products to provide adequate anti-oxidant effects to help prevent the formation of the harmful free radicals which have been associated with degenerative changes that cause aging. Most wellness centers can discuss these options with you.
